The first half of the class offers a grounding, stress-relieving flow. Longer holds and mindful transitions help you develop good alignment, breath-movement coordination, and self-awareness. The second half of the class takes you into the stillness of Yoga Nidra, which uses breathing exercises, body awareness, and guided visualizations to heal the body and mind on the deepest level.

Hatha Flow is a more dynamic and fluid form of Hatha Yoga, with emphasis on holding a pose for longer, combining gentle postures, breath work, mindfulness and meditation to encourage release and relaxation in the mind and body. Long, slow, deep yoga, practiced in a non-heated room. During yin yoga, postures are held for up to ten minutes, emphasising flexibility and healing. A lot of attention is devoted to the joints, ligaments and connective tissue. A relaxing practice that won’t make you sweat too much. Yin is a great balancing style for those who lead very active lives, practise other active styles of yoga, and those seeking stillness within.

These classes are open level classes which means that anyone can attend from beginners to more advanced practitioners. I will offer variations in some postures so that more advanced students can push themselves harder if they wish. You don’t need to be flexible or particularly co-ordinated to start yoga. Positive change happens surprisingly quickly, and beginners can learn and enjoy a yoga class alongside more experienced students. Each student works to their particular level of experience and capacity, and will be adjusted and instructed appropriately. Class numbers are kept low, with a maximum of six students to ensure all of them receive appropriate help.

No knowledge of yoga is necessary although a basic level of fitness is advised.

Flow, Relax & Rejuvenate: This class combines active postures & vinyasa flow with restorative yoga, creating an energizing and nourishing balance for body, heart & mind. Pregnancy yoga enables women to integrate mind, body and breath, giving them the physical strength and the confidence to make the transition through pregnancy and labour, towards a joyful birth. It does this by combining adapted classical yoga postures (asana), breathing exercises (pranayama), hand and body gestures (mudra) and pelvic floor exercises.

This class will teach you how to perform your pelvic floor exercises in such a way as to achieve optimum toning of the muscles, easing delivery and aiding post-natal recovery.

In addition to the physical benefits of pregnancy yoga, this class will nurture your mind, and spirit. It will provide an opportunity for you to relax in a calm, safe environment, whilst starting to connect with your baby.

Pregnancy Yoga prepares you for labour and birth with the use of breath, gravity and movement. We use adapted postures to release tension and create space and poses that are useful for labour so that they become familiar and comfortable. Work with your changing centre of gravity and understand how your posture can help to get your baby into the best position for birth.

Restorative Yoga is a powerful healing practice for everyone. It allows us to slow down, and inherently harmonizing the nervous system, which is our foundation. Join us as we allow the body to self-heal, self–regulate, and release layers of tension starting with gentle yoga poses, before moving into stillness with restorative poses, and leading to a blissful relaxation. We use props, to help the body to relax and renew.

Postnatal classes are suitable from 6 weeks after birth. They release tension in the shoulders and upper backs that often get locked from feeding and carrying. We also work on strengthening the abdominal and pelvic floor muscles. We use postures that are helpful and beneficial at this time and have the opportunity to begin exploring new strengths as you progress with your practice. Babies are welcome at the class.

Yoga Nidra translates as Yogic Sleep. It is state of physical and mental relaxation, between wakefulness and deep sleep and the objective is to cultivate that state, without falling asleep. It is used as a relaxation practice, also a form of meditation, treatment for stress and anxiety and purification of the negative habits of mind. It is generally practised lying in savasana, but can be done sitting, or semi-reclining. This can help one remain conscious and aware if there is a tendency to fall asleep.

This form of yoga nidra was devised by Swami Satyananda from an ancient tantric practice and includes eight verbally guided stages. The eight stages are: Internalisation, Sankalpa (intention), Rotation of Consciousness, Breath Awareness, Manifestation of Opposites, Creative Visualization, Sankalpa repeated and Externalisation.

A natural continuation from Mums & Baby class with a deeper emphasis on the child. The classes are designed as a joined practice exploring the yoga world movement through the child’s eyes combining songs, games and props.

The classes are fun and encouraging the children to maintain their curiosity in movement and the world around them as well as develop self awareness and self confidence.
